Like the scientific system of philosophy and also modern science respectively, music, too, distinguishes between the objects of knowledge, the subject which knows, and the process of knowing which links the subject and the object.

The Secret of the Teaching Success of Music

The secret of the teaching success of music – particularly with the simple man, but just as much with the competent thinker – lies in the fact that music refines the structure of the subject and of the object under consideration and as well the process of cognition in a discreet manner.

The Musical Process of Refinement of the Object of Cognition

By means of this process of refinement, the music brings the object of consideration in a most discreet and unobtrusive manner closer and closer to our self-awareness.

In this process the musical logic, under the auspices of the harmony laws of the microcosm of music, or of the Creator and of Almighty Nature respectively, activates and refines the function of our inner cognitive forces.
This process is connected with a systematic development of consciousness and includes an improvement of our neurophysiological functions, too.

The Musical Identification with Truth

Finally, in the context of this systematic development of consciousness, music – always under the auspices of the harmony laws of the microcosm of music, or of the Creator or of almighty Nature respectively – brings about the identification of the infinitely refined sounding object under consideration with our self-awareness.

And in the unity of our inner cognition of truth we recognize our very close universal connection with creation, which before we assumed to be separated from us and developing completely independently of us – and also we recognize our connection with the world at the verge of its catastrophe, the world which we were perhaps so fallen out with before.

The Art of Musical Enlightenment

This manifold, artistically enchanted identification of us – the music listeners, who so far were looking so intensively for fulfillment in the outer world – with the sounding and appearing ever more glorious objects of fulfilling our wishes, accounts for the great charm of the universal education through classical music and guarantees its success.

Universal Cognition of Truth in Music

What predestines music for universal cognition – and in very difference to the common practice of teaching and learning, and of scientifically analyzing in words and writing respectively –, is the fact, that music is able to stimulate feeling and understanding simultaneously to cognition.

The Love of Truth

And since philosophy – the historical and unhistorical basis of our sciences – means “love of truth”, and since love is totally unthinkable without the feeling being involved, we must assume that for philosophy, and beyond that for any kind of comprehensive acquisition of knowledge, music is a means of gaining knowledge more qualified than the common practice of verbal or written intellectual discussion.
